After all was said and done in the 2019 Varsity Cup competition there is still only one team that can win this competition and Maties again overwhelmed another victim in an 84-26 win against UWC. Shimlas did enough in Johannesburg to beat UJ 38-14 and qualify to play Maties in the one semi-final.
Ikeys 36-10 CUT
With the halftime score at 13-10 Ikeys had a lot to do to earn the bonus point win they needed to stay in the race to qualify for the semi-finals. The bonus point try came with only two minutes left on the clock but unfortunately was not good enough as they had to watch the Shimlas winning their match against UJ to claim the last spot in the semi-finals.

UJ 14-38 Shimlas
In very wet and unpleasant conditions the match got off to a slow start until the Shimlas scored their first try thereafter Shimlas took full control going into the second half with a 23-0 lead. UJ started the second half like a house on fire and scored two quick tries to narrow the gap to 23-14 but Shimlas again took control to win 14-38 in a great display of running rugby in very wet conditions.

Maties 84-26 UWC
Maties understandably cruising in the first half of this match to lead 33-5 at halftime controlling every aspect of the game. However, they came out in the second half to blow away UWC to stretch their lead to 70-5 after just 20 minutes in the second half. The last twenty minutes belonged to UWC as they scored three tries to the two of Maties. Nothing much at stake.

From the kick-off, NWU came out firing on all eight cylinders opening up a lead of 46-3 at half time. The second half was not any different and the final score of 74-15 tells the story on NWU's dominance.
